Vines at the winery

Eleven varieties now in the ground on our fourth generation family farm.  Currently about nine and a half acres of vines, this accounts for the majority of our grape production.  Butte Creek has washed away much of the soil and left behind two distinct areas:  sandy, rocky ground where you'll find our Pommard, Dijon 115, Wadenswil and Riesling blocks.

The rest is a heavy clay... but exceptionally well drained.  Typical of the Willamette Valley, this soil is very acid... terrific for vitis vinifera.

Aamodt Block

Planted in 1980s, these old-vine Pommard make up a large share of our award winning Pinot Noirs.  A beautiful, south-facing hillside above little Rock Creek, this block is surrounded by Aamodt Dairy... an organic family dairy that has been operating for generations.

When we first took over farming here, much of the vineyard was in disarray.  Covered with berries and untrellised.  We've brought it back to it's full glory, finding each old vine among the discord, reposting and wiring, and filling in the few empty spots.
